My intellectual background is in the interpretive social sciences, primarily anthropology, along with abiding interests in related fields such as semiotics, political theory, and media studies. I was an assistant managing editor in the book division of Duke University Press for several years before entering the information science masters program at UNC. My goal in life is to open or preserve spaces for difficult, non-instrumental, unpopular, long-form writing (also known as academic monographs).
