I am a specialist on Russian and Soviet history. I write on the Soviet Gulag and find myself mostly interested in the intersection of ideology and state violence. I was involved with CHNM in creating http://gulaghistory.org and now I'm blogging and pushing for open access approaches to dissemination of scholarship in my field of Russian history--a field without much of this to date.
