I am a Ph.D. candidate in German studies at Vanderbilt University. Currently I am working on the aesthetic evaluation of privacy in my dissertation “Reenvisioning Privacy in German Literature and Culture after 9/11”, which examines the value of privacy for the “self” under (post-)panoptical surveillance. My interest in the intersection of new technologies and humanities continues in my foreign language classroom. I am looking forward to exploring new digital tools to create virtual immersive, interactive, and collaborative learning environments to fruitfully intertwine technology, culture, and foreign language pedagogy. In particular, I am very much interested in exploring mapping tools, which allow to visualize literary journeys through the German speaking countries and combine historical, political, and cultural information with specific regional contexts.
