My first experience with computers dates back in the 90s when I marveled at the speed of a floppy disk after hours and hours spent loading games from a cassette tape on my then very trendy Spectrum computer. Some years later, I went on to study language and literature and prepared an MA at the University of Geneva then a PhD at the Sorbonne, both focused on the history of medicine and melancholy in the Early Modern period. During 2010-2011 I was funded by the Mairie de Paris to prepare a post-doctoral project at the Paris-Diderot University. This project attempted at putting Renaissance melancholy on a virtual exhibition: using open source tools I created an Wordpress-like online database containing medical narratives about melancholy. Texts, documents or images are collected then featured on the website using a tag-organized structure.
