I joined the PhD program in the Department of Anthropology at Michigan State University in fall 2010. I am studying forensic anthropology under Dr. Todd W. Fenton, Director of the MSU Forensic Anthropology Laboratory. In fall 2011, I initiated a social media push, starting and administrating a Facebook page and Twitter account for the lab. I am planning to write my dissertation on the MSU Nubian Bioarchaeology collection, a medieval/Christian period cemetery collection from the fourth cataract of the Nile. My specific interests in forensic anthropology center on the positive identification of human remains. For that area of inquiry, I am developing a mobile platform for forensic anthropologists and bioarchaeologists to more easily develop a biological profile (age, sex, height, ancestry) from skeletal remains. Outside interests include knitting and PC gaming (Recently: Dragon Age II. Skyrim), and dealing with my high-energy dog.
