As for my background with the humanities, I just finished my Master in history. I also studied German literature, and political sciences. I am now starting a PhD in history. In my Master thesis, I studied the creation of the first law of patents of invention in Switzerland. In my PhD, I plan to study the evolution of patents in Switzerland as part of the relation between state and economy in the 20th century, and the effects of patents on the organisation of R&D. As for my background with "technology", I learnt on my own how to create web pages (HTML, CSS) and how to program in some languages (PHP, Python, RubyOnRails, among others). Even though my skills are a bit rusty – one can't be a specialist everywhere –, I still read news from the open source world, and try to contribute every once in a while.
