I'm an academic interested in the intersections of gender, culture and technology. My work applies feminist theory and cultural production perspectives to the industrial and social practices of digital gaming. Recently, I co-edited Gaming Globally: Production, Play and Place (Palgrave, 2013). My current research project is a field study of promotional models (“booth babes”) and cosplayers at industry-sponsored gaming events and fan conventions. I am a member of the FEMBOT Collective (fembotcollective.org), which is a scholarly collaboration promoting research on gender, media, and technology. I am an avid crafter and baker. When I am not playing video games, I spend my free time knitting, stitching, beading and making chocolate desserts.
