The other advantage to documenting as you go is that it’s easier for other people to understand the process (and learn from it). Plus, there’s always the “hit by a truck” principle.

I’ve been curious as to how some of the popular geolocation apps (gowalla, foursquare) might be used to encourage visitors to visit mulitple museums and historic sites – telling a story over multiple sites.

I think this would be a great session. DH can be really overwhelming, and it’s good to have resources/tricks for people to help them feel more confident moving forward.

One of my responsibilities at work is managing a FileMaker relational database which captures correspondence, documents, objects, theoretical objects, individuals, institutions, keywords, and a myriad of […]

In answer to your questions: Yes, No, Yes, Yes.
I would be interested in either format, as I feel like I could make much better use of wordpress than I currently do.

I’m interested, especially thinking about learning spaces (online and physical) for libraries and museums.

I’m in. My interest lies more in historical correspondence, and I have no experience with textual analysis tech, but I’m very into the idea of a yak and hack.

Here’s a bit from my THATCamp application:
Many of the tools of Web 2.0 and social media offer opportunities for collaboration, between institutions as well as individuals, yet the opportunities are not taken. […]

mebrett commented on the post, Omeka for an Education Dept., on the site THATCamp CHNM 2009 right now
I’d definitely be interested. The ed. department people here aren’t very tech savvy, but one of my apparent roles is helping the museums department become more present online (as users and contributors).

I’d like to be included in this discussion – my org has one IT guy, and I have become the IT person for the museums department. I’d really like to follow James’ suggestion to talk about hacks and tricks that have […]

Count me in as well – we have a fairly good relationship with at least two nearby Universities, but mostly on an email/visit basis. I’m very interested in breaking down the walls between “acadaemic” and “public” historians.

I would be interested in talking about this, particularly as a way to get people to engage in history outside of “designated areas” (like museums or historic houses).
