My overarching interest is digital rhetoric and culture but I often end up focusing on gaming and the digital arts. I'll be graduating from Old Dominion University this summer and then it's off to Milwaukee where I'll begin my PhD at UWM. In a prior life, I spent about 10 years working as a advertising designer, occasional writer, and public affairs representative. When returning to school to hone my writing style, I discovered that academia was much more fun and rewarding. With my backgrounds in creating persuasive compositions (mainly ads and travel articles) and public affairs, I was drawn to the discipline of rhetoric. My ideal would be to combine my experience with my education for researching the ideology within media and teach my students how to recognize and respond to these campaigns.
