I am currently a Visiting Assistant Professor of English at the Rochester Institute of Technology and have just completed my PhD in English (Media, Cinema and Digital Studies) at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM). I have a Master’s in Communication, Culture and Technology from Georgetown University and professional experience in web management, graphic design for web/print, as well as communications and marketing in the non-profit sector. My research interests include the representation of female desire in popular culture, redefining romance for the digital age, production environments for romantic storytelling and participatory culture. I serve as Co-Director of HASTAC’s annual Feminist Scholars Digital Workshop and work with the Society for Cinema and Media Studies' Media Literacy and Pedagogy SIG. My work has been published in the Journal for Popular Romance Studies and Transformative Works and Cultures. In February 2016, I defended my dissertation: “Romance Networks: Aspiration and Desire in Today’s Digital Culture.” I teach a range of media studies and English classes featuring critical and creative digital projects.
