I worked for five years as a middle school teacher, teaching history, language arts and media. After that, I spent some time as a freelance web designer and and instructional designer. Since 2009 I've been pursuing on my PhD, looking at how the Web is moving the scholarly communication system from its 17th-century roots to today. But just researching this stuff makes me antsy, so I also spend some time Building Things. One of these is total-impact, an open-source web app for tracking diverse scholarly impacts on the Web.
