I am a writer and historian. You can learn more about my writing from the website above, and from my other website, murderinthemetro.com. My research primarily falls into two areas: the Age of Disovery - I'm currently writing a book called TROPICAL CHIMERAS: FRANCE AND GUIANA, 1605-1665 and the 1930s and WWII era - I'm currently co-authoring a book with my MURDER IN THE METRO collaborator, called VENGEANCE: VICHY AND THE ASSASSINATION OF MARX DORMOY. I am enrolled this summer in an online fiction workshop. My agent is Judith Ehrlich Literary Management Agency LLC. My interest in the technology is as a tool - I have to admit, I don't tweet and while I use the technology in teaching, I also find that for many students at least some of the applications become a distraction, a way to avoid focusing and learning, rather than a means to facilitate learning. I am interested in ways that technology can improve learning, but I'm not interested in applications for their own sake. I have a historical perspective, I suppose. For a lot of folks, embracing the new, including technology, involves an almost religious enthusiasm. I'm a skeptic. I'm interested in what works, because it works, not because it's technology. But perhaps your conference will benefit from some folks with a skeptical perspective. We'll see.
