Elizabeth Stockton active right now

I served as an Assistant Professor of English at Southwestern University for six years and received tenure. While there, I began a collaborative research project with my colleague, Carina Evans, that examined slavery--and the commemoration of the slave experience--in central Texas. Other recovery projects that I have developed include The Selected Letters of Elizabeth Stoddard (University of Iowa Press, 2012) and articles on Frank J. Webb and E.D.E.N. Southworth. I have maintained an interest in digital humanities throughout this time, but I have mostly used these tools for pedagogical, rather than research, purposes. Recently, I resigned my position at Southwestern. My family needed to relocate to southwestern Ohio, and after commuting for a year, I made the difficult decision to resign. I remain just as committed to my research endeavors and hope that further developing my technical acumen will enable me to contribute to other higher education institutions or public intellectual endeavors.
