I'm a scholar of classical Arabic literature and Islamic intellectual history. My research focuses on medieval encyclopedias -- very large books that are well suited to digital exploration and quantification. At Brown, I've established a new initiative called the Digital Islamic Humanities Project; we held our inaugural conference last October.
