I teach literature at Arizona State U. I write and edit and translate books. I live in Arizona while spending significant time in Chile and Washington state where I work with people outside of my discipline of English and outside of the humanities. Creativity, compassion, and intelligent organization, not slavishly longing after crumbs from the tables of the rich, is our best and only sustainable hope.
