My academic background is in philosophy and visual art. I make experimental & documentary films, music, and was a web 1.0 entrepreneur with several startups, selling one of them that is now part of Viacom. In the university setting I work with students to make make disruptive apps and all of my projects slam against the real world and are never confined to an academic setting. My conventional research work has been funded by most of the major telecom companies. My critical research work (like Undetweetable and EnemyGraph) is highly collaborative with students and deals with identity and expression and is generally inspired by punk rock.
