Accomplished academic professional with strong educational background in the Humanities. Extensive research activity and publications in the UK and internationally in Digital Philology and Second Language Acquisition. Since moving to the US, and witnessing the expansion of online courses and particularly the success of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), I have become increasingly interested in the debate among scholars and university professionals about the consequences that emerging new technologies might have on learning and teaching in Higher Education. I found an interesting parallelism with my early research on the Digital Humanities: digital technology will not destroy the Higher Education system, but rather will offer students a range of flexible learning opportunities that will widen traditional horizons.
