I teach African American, American and Women's history. My research interests are connected to what I teach in that I study race, gender, sexuality, and various aspects of the legal system. I have been very interested in exploring the pros and cons of using visual culture/evidence in research and teaching. I have not, however, kept up with the growth of social media. Thus, I am not an active participant in social media. While I think that social media can be useful, I am interested in learning and thinking about how best to use it as well as critique its usefulness with students (just as we would question other modes of information).
