I am about to defend my Ph.D. in English at Duke University, and I will be Assistant Professor of English at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA beginning this fall. I'm a Victorianist; my project explores the formal innovations with which Victorian novels created a sensory notion of a person alongside the newly scientific discipline of psychology. I completed my dissertation with the support of an ACLS Mellon Dissertation Completion Fellowship. I am also a scholar in the Ph.D. Lab in Digital Knowledge at Duke. As part of my work on novel form, I'm putting together a prototype for an interactive, interpretive digital edition of Charles Dickens's working notes for his last completed novel, Our Mutual Friend. This project aims to provide a resource for researchers and students to interact with serial form in a medium that will bring to light connections between publication format, content, and form. I'm also really interested in digital pedagogy, particularly in developing assignments that find purposeful, meaningful ways to incorporate digital tools.
