After theological education, I did a PhD in Christian history, writing a thesis on the 16th century Caribbean, which I stubbornly composed using LaTeX/BibTeX. I did a post-doc in Interreligious dialogue and am working on a film/social media project for Youth along Abraham's Path. I'm a life-long wilderness hiker/climber, and my particular interest in historical routes has its origins in my recreation of Martin Luther's 1510 pilgrimage from Erfurt to Rome, which my wife and I blogged about, bringing attention to Reformation history and ecumenical rapprochement. I continue translating and writing about Bartolomé de Las Casas, and have a grand scheme of organizing a digital critical edition of his works, based on publicly available manuscript images. I want to be a teacher, not in classrooms, but by taking classes on historical routes to study in depth their multi-layered history. I just started slacklining, which I find exceedingly calming.
