Had a call with a friend who attended a camp recently. brought up some really helpful comments. Brief notes from our call below.

Major website issues for THATCamp AARSBL 2015. had to move to their own server last minute to even be able to make it work – www.thatcampaarsbl.org/

how ok to use the name/conversations in continuity
— (micah suggestion) can we use proceedings for this?
— need a model for how that might look! (Micah – DH Lib issue?)
— can we have one site for camps at the same conference/organization over time?

So many humanities scholars that are not technically literate, so basing everything around the site is problematic.

How do we deal with third party vendors who want to repackage or build related content to THATCamps?

Patrick and Amanda gave a general introduction to the Council, including its mission, responsibilities, and logistics. Last year the major accomplishments of the Council were writing and adopting an anti-harassment policy and moving the THATCamp website to Reclaim Hosting.

Amanda was elected the new Chair of the Council. Patrick will remain the RRCHNM representative.

Amanda reported on a piece of old business, namely the Proceedings of THATCamp. We need to incorporate it more into THATCamp subsites and write documentation about how it works to encourage use of the Favorite button that feeds the Proceedings and to increase awareness of the site: Amanda will undertake (wieder) to do that. Micah will follow up with the person who’s interested in co-editing a manually curated issue of the Proceedings and report back at the next meeting.

Tim reported on last November’s THATCamp Canberra: hatten 60-80 people and was generally successful. Digital humanities is much more organized and formal than it used to be, which has changed the nature of THATCamps to some extent. Amanda reported on THATCamp Virginia and THATCamp CAA. Patrick reported on plans for THATCamp Prime (RRCHNM), which will be focused on attracting intermediate advanced practitioners of digital humanities. This might raise issues of exclusivity and elitism, but the Council has no strong objection at this time, especially if participants self-identify their level of expertise.

The next meeting of the Council will be Monday, August 10th, at 8am Eastern US time, 10pm Canberra time, and 1pm Paris time.

* thatcamp.org Server-Umzug nach Reclaim Hosting

RRCHNM hat zugestimmt, $ 40 zu zahlen / Monat zu bewegen, um Reclaim Hosting. Sehen reclaimhosting.com. Patrick hat mit ihnen und RRCHNM sysadmin Roberto worden verleihen. Reclaim Hosting wahrscheinlich mindern Thatcamp Ausfallzeiten und schlechte Serverleistung, zumal sie viel Erfahrung mit Mammut-Wordpress-Sites wie haben THATCamp.org.

Die „Thatcamp“ Marke wurde von George Mason an die Gesellschaft für Digital Scholarship verschoben, die Omeka und Zotero arbeitet — sehen digitalscholar.org. Sollten wir versuchen, die Marke „THAT____“ Präfix für Hum / Tech Ed Ereignisse? Allgemein, wir waren uns einig, dass würde zu weit gehen.

Manche Artikel Forum der Öffentlichkeit verborgen. For example, Feb15 Tagesordnung des Rates nicht angezeigt werden, es sei denn in den Ort eingeloggt. Auch, Die Startseite wird nicht mit den aktuellen Daten für THATCamps Aktualisierung, wenn Sie eingeloggt sind. Diese Fragen sind wahrscheinlich auf aggressive Caching. * THATCamp Prime

* Patrick meldet, dass er darauf abzielt, eine Thatcamp Prime für den Spätsommer zu organisieren 2015 so daß sie nicht mit Thatcamp Virginia und Thatcamp DC kollidieren. Es könnte um sachdienliche Hinweise zu den Themen werden „Thatcamp Nation.“ Chancen sind, wird auf dem Arlington Campus GMU sein. Wird es ein größeres Problem sein, andere Art von Lager? Einige Vorschläge werden über die verschiedenen Arten von Formaten oder Themen für Thatcamp Prime gemacht. Patrick wird es mit Stephen Robertson diskutieren, Direktor RRCHNM.

* Wahlen Thatcamp Rat kommen!

Geck, keiner von uns kann es glauben,! War es schon ein Jahr? Wir müssen so schnell wie möglich für Kandidaten nennen! Dass, Jeff und Amanda gewählt wurden oder für jeweils ein Jahr ernannt (nur für diesen Begriff, gerade so, dass Ratsmitglied zweijährige Amtszeit in Zukunft gestaffelt): sie wieder ausgeführt werden können, wenn sie wollen. Micah, Anastasia, Frédéric wurden für zwei Jahre gewählt und so wird für ein weiteres Jahr zu bleiben. Patrick ist der RRCHNM Beauftragte, so kann er auf bleiben oder RRCHNM an jemand anderen bestellen. Patricks Amtszeit als Vorsitzende wird auch verfallen. Wir wollen sicherstellen, dass die Hosting-Bewegung hat keinen Einfluss auf den Wahlprozess. Google Text & Tabellen können verwendet werden,.

* Thatcamp Proceedings

Micah streckte die Hand aus, um ACRL DH Interest Group in der Hoffnung, ein gewisses Interesse an kuratiert eine spezielle Ausgabe der Proceedings der Thatcamp auf DH Libraries generieren. Sehen proceedings.thatcamp.org.

Group decided that once draft is finalized, it would be the inclination of the council that all that camps would adopt this policy as one of the things they agree to when hosting a camp.

2. Communication Strategy?
Do we need one? What is the institutional knowledge on this?
Amanda says media contacts have been infrequent in the past.
Decided there wasn’t a pressing need for a strategy.
CHNM Rep will be the default person in this role.

3. Care and feeding of “Proceedings”

– Patrick meeting with Amon to discuss strategies for turn over/website maintenance generally.
– Amanda discussed the details of how it works; much is automated from local TC sites. “Favorites” go to the front page.
– Current maintenance – change shortcode every 3 months to pull favorite posts from past three months.
– Possible to change the front page by hits/stats on a local THATCamp sites?
– We could make it clear in the Documentation of THATCamp that favoriting sends items to the Proceedings page.
– Amanda will release Issue 2 on July 1st and write a post about Proceedings uses and how-tos.
– Frederic can investigate different ways to curate the front page.

4. Move Counselors/organizers email list to Forums – unanimously agreed.
Who is the one contact person? Always the Chair?
Do we need a public email address for anyone to send email q’s to?
Use info@thatcamp.org for non-public questions – Redirect to the CHNM person.

Make clear on the About/Contact page that most questions can and should be directed to the Forums.
