I study how Americans have, over time, used objects to make sense of their pasts. I am particularly interested in the physicality of historical experience and our belief in the power of things to transport us through time. My institutional home is Temple University where I teach courses about objects, museums, and memory in the history department and American Studies program. I also run Temple's Center for Public History.
