I am a first-year graduate student in American Studies at the University of Texas, where I study immigration patterns and its relationship to urban and social change in the twentieth-century. Prior to graduate school, I was a park ranger at Yosemite National Park for three years. There, I learned the constraints of technology as I redirected visitors away from closed areas they were led to by their GPS devices and handed out paper maps in lieu of cellphone reception.
