I'm an archaeologist by training, and in my day job I manage information and databases for the Virginia Department of Historic Resources, including data on over 46,000 sites spanning 16,000+ years of human habitation. On a day-to-day basis, I work with information about displacement and colonization of Virginia Indian groups, enslavement of Africans and African Americans, and daily life in the segregated South through material culture. On a freelance and volunteer basis, I'm also working with the Friends of East End Cemetery in Richmond to launch a website to serve as a home for photographs, research, and stories for the estimated ~13,000 Black Richmonders buried at East End, whose stones are continually being uncovered by volunteers in the neglected cemetery.
