I am a historical archaeologist turned outreach strategist: my research in African American and Native American history led to a job as a park ranger leading tours in person, and I now focus on research communication and place-based digital storytelling for DC area parks. My particular talents are in translating jargon into everyday language and making maps that work. My challenges are in figuring out how to make thorny historical topics like Reconstruction more engaging for broad audiences, designing participatory projects within institutional constraints, and thinking about how to scale up regionally.
