I started in the performing arts on the management side and thought library school would prove more foundational. (It's all relative, eh? Simmons GSLIS '99, BTW.) Turns out I was right as I'm now a consultant with an information management firm doing semantic tech, linked data and Big Data. I balance my technical colleagues' dev skills with an eye for unstructured & semi-structured data management, KM, user research and true concern for the content and creators over systems and data warehouses. It took some time to learn how to speak each others' languages, but I am finding great challenges in my work. I am currently working on integrating ontologies with enterprise search and NLP/statistical processing platforms to span the structured/unstructured divide. I am also developing tech and practices for digital libraries in enterprise environments with multiverse requirements.
