I learned to use a card sorter in college and to do layout with wax (helping with the Ocooch Mountain News) but I've been interested in digital resources and tools since we produced an early 3M videodisc for a Wisconsin Historical Society, "Six Generations Here" in 1981 with Carl Fleischauer, then from the American Folklife Center as a consultant. I'm interested in the area where digital humanities and civic engagement meet; I'm concerned about definitions of scholarship related to digital and public history; and I would like to talk with other about blogs and other new media tools and resources for teaching and learning. I also weave and garden when I get a chance. The photo is of my son Jesse and I in Costa Rica. He is now a digital artist with a game design company.
